Painted Papers

Description:
In this 3-hour workshop, you will explore the world of painted papers using water-based media on a variety of papers for various effects. You will learn several different techniques for creating rich, vibrant backgrounds for your drawings or calligraphy, or just beautiful standalone papers that can be used for bookmaking, specialty wraps, cards or other paper-based projects. You will receive handouts and an instruction folder in the mail that will hold your painted paper samples. Please note that the paper samples noted in the video are not included in the mailer. No art experience necessary
Supplies:
o Three colors fluid acrylic and 6 small mixing containers (wide-mouth cups)
o Pan watercolors (my favorite: Gansai Tambi Japanese watercolor)
o Pad of 9 x 12 (or 11 x 14) 140# watercolor paper
o Arches Text Wove Paper, cut into 6 x 10 pieces (at least 10-12 pieces)
o Large brush (at least 1” wide)
o Foam brush ( 1” or 2”)
o Small Sumi brush or round brush that comes to a nice point when wet
o Mod Podge or Matte Medium
o Small tub of standard wallpaper paste (available from most hardware stores)
o Plastic wrap or deli/sandwich wrap o 2 wide-mouth water containers
o Paper towels
o Plastic mats for work surface (“chopping mats” from Dollar Tree)
