Description:
In this 2.5-hour workshop, you will learn the pastel dusting technique for adding quick, effective color to your black-and-white art or calligraphy. This magic technique, which includes using stencil patterning, is good for cards and bookmaking, as well as creating standalone art masterpieces. You will receive instructional handouts for the pastel dusting process and for making a book to hold your sample pieces.

Supplies: You will supply the following:
• Soft pastel sticks (NOT oil pastels or pan pastels); I recommend Faber Castell 24- or 48-pack
• Clear plastic film (Dura-lar or old projector transparencies)
• X-acto knife (#11 blade)
• Metal ruler and cutting board (at least 8 x 10)
• Kneaded eraser (not a regular eraser)
• Cotton balls and Q-tips
• Large paper plate or small 6-well watercolor palette
• Wet wipes
• Any white paper, and maybe a few sheets of watercolor paper if you want surface texture
• Plastic mat for work surface (Dollar Tree “chopping mats” work great)
